Another new mod by Cory - and this one is quite different from the other mods ...

New version 1.0 of the launch/switcher utility by Dave
It has been
polished a bit since the beta and Dave has made it compatible with the AE
Patch 02 changes. The main zip file includes the user guide (as a
.doc) but he has also made it a .pdf and included it as a separate file
for those who want to find out what the program is like before
downloading the whole package. This first non-beta release has quite a
bit more error checking than the beta but nothing is certain in
software-land so feedback is welcome. I've also included the source
file for those who are more adventurous.
11/07/09
Dave just sent me a quite interesting utility :
The main purpose of the utility is to provide for
dynamic
map effects such as road and railroad construction and some seasonal
effects. So, using the utility, such works as
the Ledo Road and
the ALCAN Highway
will appear per a pre-set (historical) schedule. Dave
have called the utility a Launcher/Switcher
because he found the best way to control the progression of map changes
(Switcher)
was to use a starting/return point (the Launcher) to keep everything in
synchronization. The launcher has proven
to be a suitable base for some other utility functions as well.
Beware : it is right now a beta with an initial
(non-beta) release shortly after Matrix releases Patch 02 ( mid-November ?).

WITP - AE is now available - with a rebate for the existing WITP owners (but only for the next 3 months ...).
06/20/09
It
is not related to WITP or even to wargaming, but today I feel horrified
by what happens in Iran and by the heroic struggle of weaponless
students.
So to all the
Iranian people in Iran and elsewhere, I want to say that we support you
in your fight agains tyranny and wish you to succeed !
For more information about what happens in Iran :

- WitP War in Russia Mod by Dani is no longer going to be hosted here. The next 1.3 version includes a modified
.exe file and Matrix insists
that the mod should be hosted in their Member's Area to avoid unlawful
use of the data. As soon as the new 1.3 version is available, I will
remove the 1.2/1.21 version of this mod

- Big B's Mod with RHS 6 maps - This is a mod using Big B's v1.5 on RHS 6 maps. It has the benefit of a
southern shipping channel to Australia in case it is cut off from
normal shipping by Japanese conquest. Both Brian Wisher and El Cid have
added technical support - For more information, please check the readme

Coral Sea Ambush Scenario by Spence
Spence has modified the Stock Coral Sea Scenario (#3)
postulating that for one reason or another the Japanese do not begin their
attempt to capture Port Moresby by sea for approximately 1 week after their
original May 1 start and TF 16 with Enterprise and Hornet (which were dispatched
to the So Pac) arrive in the vicinity as the attempt begins.
Scenario 198: Coral Sea Ambush
(maybe)
Played on Stock Map
Japanese Reinforcements (doesn't really make a
difference)
Allied Reinforcements (should be set to +/-15 or
+/-60; fixed arrival of TF16 {2CV, 3CA,CL and 8DD} is 420507)
Game lasts 20 turns
Probably not suitable for play against Japanese
AI. Decent challenge against Allied AI. Probably most
interesting as PBEM or HtH.

New version of the Guadalcanal Scenario by Ben
Version 4 read-me
making Rekata
Bay "allied" so that the AVP Mackinac can set up home there along with elements
of VP-23 on August 7th-8th as it did historically, correcting some minor
armament facing errors with certain warships, and adding the APc's (small
coastal transports) and Tulagi Supply Squadron - which abstractly represents a
number of small craft and native boats commandeered to transfer supplies between
Guadalcanal and Tulagi. Remember, historically, the APc's did not begin
operations around Guadalcanal/Tulagi until November 1942, but they had to be
added at the beginning because they will not "arrive" later on like with
warships. Same goes for the PT boats. So to be accurate, do not use the first of
the APc's until mid-November, and the first four PT boats became operational at
Tulagi on October 12th.

CHS graphics art update by Halsey -
Added fremens DD/SS packages, and a couple of
tweaks for some of the ships.

09/15/07
New version of the Guadalcanal Scenario by Ben
Version 3 changes :
- Corrections of armament on the Japanese
Transport/AMC Kinryu Maru
- Corrections of the stats of many Japanese
warships
- Made Mutsuki class DD's into APD's, but still
armed with one triple bank of 24in torpedoes - as per the book "Destroyers of
World War Two" by M.J. Whitley.
- Tinkered with Japanese naval gun stats -
penetration and effect are same as always, but increased the Accuracy of many
types - after all, the accuracy of a 20mm Oerlikon is 65, so why is the accuracy
of a similarly-equipped Japanese 25mm mount 31? Increased this to 60...and many
more changes along this line - Japanese AA will no longer be inaccurately
pathetically ineffective - but still nowhere as good as American A/A
outfits
08/27/07
New arts by Fremen :
- USA Destroyers pack to stock game by Fremen - easy to use pack. Simply unzip and copy/paste in destiny
- USA Destroyers pack by Fremen - lot of ship
sides and is suitable to "grognards" and mates that use hardly the editor, all
the files must be renamed to work propely
08/25/07
New version of the Guadalcanal Scenario by Ben :
- Correction of Beaufighter rear machine guns once
again (Vickers "K" was not correct on Aussie Mk.VIc, X, and 21 Beaus - Browning
0.303 is)
- Addition of the Australian destroyer Vendetta,
which was available starting in 1943 after conversion to an A/A and A/S escort
ship.
- A "What if" for head-to-head players. Or VS the
computer, if either decides to ignore Guadalcanal and send heavy units to
threaten Australia. The battleship Warspite, with escorts Emerald, Nizam,
Nestor, and Hotspur, which were based at Colombo at the time and COULD have
sortied if there was a major crisis in the SWPAC.

New version of the Guadalcanal scenario by Ben
-
Modded Scenario n°5 (using the slot n°80)- now Revision 08/15/07 - Ben have spent a month doing
extensive research, both from online at the Dictionary of American Naval
Fighting Ships website, as well as the book "U.S. Naval Operations In World War
Two - Guadalcanal" by Samuel Elliot Morrison - and have discovered that
literally dozens of ships that should be present in this scenario are not (such
as the repair ship Vestal, several Destroyer Tenders and Submarine Tenders and
three PT Boat Tenders) - and also that literally dozens of ships that should not
be present....are :( In additiion, RAAF No.6 and No.32 Squadrons (Lockheed
Hudson patrol bombers based at Port Moresby) were *missing* from the scenario!
As far as he can tell, all missing ships have been added at the appropriate time
that they arrived, all incorrect ships have been removed, and all ship stats
have been corrected to a reasonable degree of accuracy.
The Latest revision includes : Australian 30 Squadron
changed to Beaufighter Mk.Ic (plane has been added) with correct armament,
corrected stats on Japanese and Allied warships, U.S. 43rd Infantry Divison
arrives at the correct time, small seaplane tender Mackinac added (it was
inexplicably missing from the scenario!), plus literally hundreds of other
corrections to ships, ground forces, air groups, etc.....enjoy! :D

06/12/07
New version 9.2 for all the versions of the Nik Mod.
Main change : ASW change tweak for IJN subs (10 added
to DUR for classes <30) Original
testing was based on standard DUR 33 IJN subs but at the time I failed to
realize that half the classes had <30 (I thought I was more like a quarter
of them) Further playtesting showed that
the <30 subs were back to being ultra vulnerable to most passing USN
TF’s. This minor, but important tweak
should produce the less bloody results as seen in the original 9.1 tests.
- Version 9.2
- Version 9.2 Experimental
Reminder : The main differences between the 9.2 and the 9.2b
versions are the major change to
Japanese aircraft industry included in the 9.2 version (and removed in the 9.0b and the 9.2b).
06/10/07
An experimental version of Nik Mod 9.1 is now available - it DOES NOT replace the regular 9.1 Nik Mod. The main changes are :

- IJNAF
2E level bomber loadout change
- 60kg bomb device penetration reduced to 1
- Allied light and merchant ship classes armored to 2mm for belt, deck and
primary armament locations

- New version 9.0 & 9.0b of the Nikademus Mod !!!!
9.0 version :
Japanese aircraft
industry tweak: Major change to
Japanese aircraft industry to limit the alleged over capability of Japan player
to build large #’s of advanced airframes (and 1st generation
aircraft) R&D factories
drastically reduced and small mini-factories that build the same airframe have
been consolidated into singular larger factory locations. The purpose of these two changes are to
both limit player capability to expand drastically the plane types and to make
airframe changes more a choice between optimizing existing production and
starting new lines. An AI/AI test
run did not indicate any obvious problems (such as Japan running out of
aircraft by mid 43) but ultimately only human PBEM runs will determine the value
of the change or any negative consequences.
9.0b version
:
Since the changes
made to the Japanese aircraft industry are experimental, the b version is
offered with most of those changes removed. Some minor tweaks remain but RD for
example and the distribution of the factories has been restored. (Recommended
for AI play)

- New version of the Modded Scenario n°5 by Ben Schmidt - this revised version includes: corrected statistics
on many US auxillaries (AO's not actually present have been removed, and
statistics have been corrected for those present); the experience levels of US
combat-trained auxillaries (APA's, AKA;s, AO's, AR Vestal, and tenders) have
been increased to what I feel are realistic levels for the time period; and the
Japanese have the Armed Merchant Cruiser Kinryu Maru, armed with 8 X 6"
guns - which was historically used during the Japanese relief operations to
Guadalcanal in August, 1942.

Modded Scenario n°5 by Ben Schmidt (using the slot n°80) - Ben have spent a month doing

As far as he can tell, all missing ships have been added at the appropriate time

In
short, you now (correctly) have a large number of weakly armed (but very
courageously crewed!) small Dutch motor freight and passenger ships at Brisbane,
which carried out the resupply of Port Moresby and Gili Gili, mostly unescorted
- and several were sunk in the process. You also have (correctly) far fewer
replacements in the Solomons theater, as many heavy cruisers and auxillaries
were comitted to the Aleutian Campaign at the time. It is a .RAR file - all attatchments go into the SCEN
folder, and it is Scenario 80 - compatible with WITP updated to the 1.8.01

Many new WITP scenarios by Big B
with the design notes
file for these scenarios
08/27/06
Back home !!!!! And in my inbox, I just found :
This scenario is loosely based on the work of Hector Bywater, the Great
Pacific War 1931. Major differences are that the war takes place in
1926 to 1930 and the Washington Naval talks failed. This means fewer
carriers, more Dreadnaughts and Battlecruisers. I basically used
Bywater to help setup the situation in Manchuria and China and
redistributed the supply and fuel production. The Scenario Notes has a
pretty comprehensive list of the changes.
The changes for the 1.1 version are :
1) Added Soviet reinforcements in 1929. This will give the Japanese a real incentive to prevent Soviet activation.
2) Added some basic Soviet ships (subs and torpedo boats)
3) Corrected a database error on the Nagasaki class submarines.
Included with the file is the scenario database in Excel created by Helpless.

- modded scen. #4
- modded by Ross Sutton and Paul Lappin, this
scenario is a modification to WITP scenario #4 and will go into the #30
slot of your scenario directory as "South Pacific-alt". The new
scenario is designed for play balance to give the Allies a better
chance. The game is extended an additional four months with the
corresponding additions to the OOB for both sides. For a
more complete description, click here
Fans
of Uncommon Valor should enjoy this scenario. It offers a fun mid sized
scenario for those who don't want to embark of a full campaign of WITP.

ship graphics by Fantas
:
"I found those ship graphics that came with WITP a dismal way to make a
better immersion in the game. That way i spend a weekend finding images
of Japanese ships (the only side i tentatively played) and editing them
in MS paint :) it´s an unfinished work but since i lack time
to
finish
it i think it's a good"
Notes and caveats:
- In
some(most) of the ships the side size of image hides the
speed/range/mvr/aa values data it don't bothers me much but may do
upset some people
- the
new graphics came from photos and artistic drawings of kits,
the
graphic diference between them may upset some, not me;
- Sanyo
Maru class didnt exist "per se" it was a one of many AK converted to
AV; image i put is of a kit of Natoro AV class since i did'nt find
Sanuki or Sanyo image.
- Keijo
Maru Class seems to only exist in imagination of WITP guys, my data
refers only a freighter converted for gunboat duties and not a whole
class; the image is from a PC with mainly same characteristics
- Tachibana
DD have
same graphic of Matsu DD class

Today is a very
sad day for the European IT industry and for
the democracy in the EU : The EU
Council
Presidency today declared the software agreement (software patent
agreement) of 18
May 2004 to have been adopted, in violation of the procedural rules and
in spite of the evident lack of a qualified majority of member states
and the requests of several states to reopen negotiations.

Wayne Cassel just made 2 bookmarks

to use
Japanese nomenclature in his text and Wayne found it annoying having to
switch to the front so he made 2 different bookmarks : the one on the
left is single-sided and the one on the right can be folded over and
glued to make a double sided bookmark.
